Prezi - Question 4

  1. Great stuff Cesco. A couple of things to consider: 1) the BFI yearbook slide is a little redundant as there are no explanations to its inclusion or anything. 2) Consider the different methods of categorising audiences (e.g. Maslow's needs, social class etc) Can you apply any of these to your target audience? 3) It might be worth using IMDB to research the 'user ratings' for your influencing films - Prisoners & Donnie Darko.

    1. My target audience was the ages of 16-24 years old and according to Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, the highest level is self actualisation. This to me doesn't seem to be relevant to my audience, because at such an age and lack of experience, I very much doubt that they would be within this category of people (lack of prejudice and accepts all facts) but more alike that they would be within 'Love/Belonging' category due to their experience and I would note that the internet would generally fall within this category, as well as social media because social networking sites such as Facebook are the key to maintaining friendships and keeping close to distant family in modern times. My audience probably aspire to be within the category above of 'esteem' and be respected of others and have confidence.

For my influencing films including Donnie Darko I found various user reviews on the IMDb website and I found that the audience enjoyed the protagonist who is "a fairly troubled teenager", this ultimately was one of the key points throughout various reviews that I read online was the protagonist and the teenage view upon the thriller and despite how "The film proceeds with the feel of a teen flick, the style of a horror, and a plot suited for a fantasy." (ready___break) he still stated it was a 'masterpiece'.
